I’m Maggie Lindholm, a 55-year-old woman who has called Helsinki home for the past 38 years. As an entrepreneur for 27 of those years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the city’s golden era—when small businesses, unique shops, and local restaurants thrived, giving Helsinki its vibrant character and distinct identity.

But now, it feels like that charm is fading. Our city has become dotted with shopping malls on every corner, filled with the same chain stores and global brands. I’m not here to blame anyone; it’s natural for big corporations to seize opportunities. Instead, I want us to reflect on our own shopping habits.

I am CEO of Aivosäätiö/Finnish Brain Foundation and city councillor in Helsinki since 2017 from kokoomus. I am a single mum and a passionate winter swimmer. I lived for 10 years abroad working at the World Bank and the EU in USA, Angola and Barbados. Helsinki should become the best capital in the world!

I am a 35-year-old Master of Social Sciences, deputy councillor and member of the culture and leisure committee.

I work as a Public Affairs Director for an international pharmaceutical company. We live in Lauttasaari with my partner and are eagerly expecting our first child this spring!

I am passionate about ensuring that Helsinki is an open and welcoming city for newcomers from different parts of the world. It is crucial that we do not allow gaps in people’s wellbeing to widen, nor can we accept discrimination or high unemployment rates among our immigrant population.

My professional background includes experience in social services, diaconal work, NGO work, immigrant integration, journalism, and media management. I want to build a Helsinki that truly feels like home for everyone.
