Couple & family counsellingCounseling was amazing to us, it has literally saved our relationship. It helped us to improve our communication skills so that we can solve problems together better. Thank you Familia! Familia´s couple and family counselling offers short-term discussion and peer support for intercultural couples and families. The service is not therapy, but it is based on reflection and dialogue in situations of concern or stress in life. In Familia's couple and family counselling, we can identify factors affecting the well-being of intercultural families. You can contact us, for example in questions related to relationships, parenting, raising children, multilingualism or divorce and blended families. Our support is culturally sensitive and respects the views of each couple or family.
Counselling can help you find new perspectives, identify resources, and guide you to utilise and increase them. Counselling is based on peer-to-peer, discussion and dialogue. Your goal may be, for example: Strengthening your connection with your spouse, finding new ways of communication, or improving interaction. You can also come to the counselling to discuss your own thoughts or experiences without a major goal. Just talking out loud about your own thoughts or feelings can help you perceive and structure your life situation from a new perspective. Even one counselling session helped me when I was going through very hard times. You can come to counselling alone or together even if the relationship has ended. In this case, concerns related to the separation can be considered (not including legal advice). If necessary, we can help you to find other services and support suitable for your family's situation.
Couple and family counselling includes approximately 1–5 face-to-face or online meetings and is free of charge. Counselling is currently available in Finnish, English and Spanish. You can sign up for couple and family counselling by filling in the contact form. We aim to respond to contacts as soon as possible, no later than within 2 working days (during holidays, response times may be extended). In the matters related to bi- or multilingualism, please contact Belingual Project. Are you worried about your own well-being or that of a loved one? In urgent and crisis situations, you can contact Mieli ry Crisis Helpline, which is on call 24 hours a day every day at 09 2525 0111. Finnish Central Association for Mental Health offers information, help and peer support related to mental health. |
