What does familia do for employment and integration?
DUO JOB hunting groups
|
The Duo Job hunting groups are peer support groups for members of intercultural families who are looking for a job. The aim is to create a space where participants can support and encourage each other and talk about different themes linked to job-hunting, among people who share a similar life situation. The participants share ideas, tips and h ave discussions about job-hunting in Finland and its specificity for people in intercultural families.
The groups are led by trained volunteers and meet around once a week to discuss employment, integration and well-being issues. In addition to discussions, the meetings include one Q&A session with an expert. The Duo Job hunting group are organized each weeks or every two weeks for 8 times. A meeting lasts 1.5-2 hours, and the groups are closed, which means that the same people meet each time and that there are no new members joining after the second session. Familia's +Workshops are interactive events where intercultural couples receive concrete tips to support one another on the path to learning Finnish and networking.
First launched in 2019 with the Partners' Path project, the +Workshops continue at Familia, offering concrete tools and tips to couples regarding integration in Finland. In these interactive 2 hours workshops, you and your partner will do different sorts of exercises, have fun and learn. You'll leave the workshops full of new tips and ideas on how to support and encourage each other! Welcome! This Autumn, the +Workshops focus on language. 20.9.2021, 17-19 : Learning Finnish with your partner ( for couples where one partner speaks Finnish and the other one is learning). The workshops are in English but the questions and discussions can be in Finnish too. Click here to register! |

Volunteering

Volunteering can be a great way to expand your networks, improve your general well-being, contribute to Finnish society and increase your employability.
Familia offers a 1 hour info-session as well as a 2 hours workshop on volunteering to groups of non-Finnish speakers who would like to become volunteers but don't know where to start. If you or a group of people you work with would like to know how and why volunteer in Finland, don't hesitate to contact us! |
