BElingual LANGUAGE CLUBS

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY IN YOUR HOME LANGUAGE

Belingual language clubs are clubs lead by volunteer parents where families with under school-aged children, who speak the same language as one of your home languages come together to play, sing, craft and have fun.  The clubs support children's language and identity development and give families an opportunity to experience their language and culture in a community.

The clubs meet every two week for two hours.

Information about the club venue:

The Club is run by our volunteers Rebecca and Laura.  All our Belingual Club activities are designed for children between the ages of 2 to 6 years, but the whole family is welcome to join.

The clubs are meant for all families who use English as a home language. This means that adults and children may have different levels of language capacity, the club is a safe space for all families to learn together with different types of activities.

Belingual activities are pedagogically designed to support your children’s language and identity development, but most of all we hope that children (and parents) will have fun, feel they are part of a community and form a positive relationship with their home language and culture.

Parents play an important role in clubs. We hope that you will encourage and help both your children and the other children to attend. Get involved, sing, dance and have fun with your children! Please also remember that our clubs are run by volunteers (who are often parents themselves, they are not early years educators) and they will always be happy to get a helping hand during the club. The more involved parents are in the club, but more fun and engaging it will be for the whole family!

Communication:
Communication related to the club will mainly be through the club’s WhatsApp Group, which you will be sent a link to once you have registered.

A few things to remember:
  • Children must always attend with a parent/guardian who are responsible for the child’s participation and safety during the club.
  • CANCELLATIONS: If you cannot attend, please let the volunteers know via WhatsApp group.
  • Please bring a small snack for your child, we will have a short snack break.

BElingual Language club Volunteer

If you can't find the activities you want for your children,  make then happen yourself!
Belingual Language Clubs are family clubs in different minority languages for families with under school- aged children. Each club is led by a team of 3-4 volunteers, mainly parents of the children taking part in the club. Children always participate with their parents. The clubs take place every two weeks, lasting 2-hours each time. Families play, sing, do crafts and other fun activities together in their language.

Club volunteers are parents who want to give their children the opportunity to experience their home language and culture in a community and to meet other families who speak the same language. The clubs are guided by activities developed by experts, but each club can bring in their own culture and make it their own.
